About the Artist
Inspired by the nature I find in my own (tiny!) urban backyard and beyond, I have created sketches, illustrations and paintings of my feathered friends and the beautiful natural landscapes in which they thrive. I have incorporated many of my favourite illustrations into uniquely designed products for you to wear, use, and enjoy! Great for gifts, home decor, or just for fun. My Pretty Bird artworks and products are created and designed by me, right here in Canada.
Why do I love making art? Well, after spending many years working in graphic design, I headed off to graduate school to study for a Masters degree in Museum Studies. Once completed, I began working in museum education at one of Canada's most iconic art museums, a job I still enjoy today. Making art is all about observation, and taking the time to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us everyday. Life can be busy! Take time to look at and listen to the natural world around you. You too will be inspired!
My art prints are all printed by me in my home studio in Toronto. I have done my very best to source local suppliers to produce the items I cannot make myself. The majority of the textile and paper products, such and the scarves, bags, pouches, notebooks, and cushions are printed, cut, and sewn in Montreal. Other items, such as the mugs, are printed locally from imported materials. If you have any questions about where certain items are created please ask! I am happy to share that information. The majority of the items I sell are made "on demand" to eliminate the waste created by over production.
